The free version of Canva is incredible, but Canva Pro gives you unlimited access to their templates, fonts and graphics, giving you zero limitation on what you can create on their website. If you're finding yourself clicking on Canva for most of your social media posts/graphic design work, then you'd highly benefit from investing in the paid version, which is around the same price as a Netflix subscription (not much!)

Back to what we came here for, beautifully designed, cursive ( script ) style fonts, so let's break down my top 40.

1.Amsterdam Four Script Font

This font is called Amsterdam four (and yes, there is also an Amsterdam one, two, and three, I've just chosen four for this article as we find it to be the most aesthetic of the four available. This font is free so that it can be used by anyone designing on Canva. Amsterdam four gives off a thin pen, slightly cursive vibe. The capital letters are around 4 times the size of the lower case letters, making them stand out beautifully. This font would fit a variety of designs, but we could see it being the perfect wedding invitation font. It's carefree and relaxed yet still looks fancy and romantic.

2.Bright Sunshine Script Font

This font is called Bright Sunshine, and it has a somewhat similar vibe to Amsterdam four, just with much smaller capital letters and a little more cursive added to the strokes. This font is also free, meaning it's open for use by anyone whether they have Canva Pro or not. This font gives off a carefree, script quickly vibe. The way you may start to connect your letters if you don't lift your pen up after each one had been written. This font seems more casual and fun and would fit a variety of different style graphic posts, particularly something focused for social media.

3.Pony club

This font is called Pony club, and it brings a different vibe to the fonts mentioned above. Pony Club is once again another free font, as most of the 39 listed. Pony Club gives off a younger vibe, with little curls coming off of some of the letters. Imagine a child doodling with their writing, they may come up with something similar to this font. We can see this font working perfectly for graphics for younger children (particularly girls, as the curls makes it seem more feminine) for example, this would be the perfect font for a birthday party invite; it's fun, young, and creative.

4.Mr Dafoe cursive font

This font is called Mr Dafoe, and once again, it's completely free to use. Mr Dafoe is back to a cursive feel. It looks like it's been written with a thicker marker, rather than a pen and it has the elegance of a handwritten Christmas card from your grandparents. This font would look great on an invitation card or a social media advertisement for something like a clothing boutique.

5.Limbo cursive font

This font is called Limbo font, and you guessed it, it's free! This font is thin, fun and cursive. Although keep in mind that if you're not good at reading cursive this font might be a little tricky. It's pretty 'squiggley' and may be hard to differentiate similar letters such N and M, making it take a little longer to read with the need to concentrate a little bit harder. Keep this in mind when creating graphics, as some people may choose to scroll on rather than stop to read something that seems difficult. In saying that, it is still a beautiful font that would suit certain projects perfectly.

6.Bad script

This font is called Bad script, and it's completely nailed that handwritten feel. Chances are many of you reading this article has, or knows someone that has handwriting similar to this font. This font is once again free, and is very relaxed in style. Looking like it's come straight out of a college student's lecture notes. This feels like the perfect font to target teenagers. It's easy to read, yet a lot more exciting than your typical ariel.

7.Jimmy script

This font is called Jimmy script and yes, it's another free one. In fact, we'll stop mentioning this from now on, and only mention if the font is a Canva Pro exclusive. Jimmy script is another strongly cursive style font, yet with a more messy style than the previously mentioned fonts. Messy fonts can work well in your designs, as it gives off a realistic, handwritten look. As not many people can write as neatly as an online font, this font gives some realism.

8.Pinyon script

This font is called Pinyon script, and now we're getting fancy. This font still gives a handwritten look, but it's a lot more similar to caligraphy than writing with a pen, and is much more classic. If you were to handwrite like this font, you'd be taking your time. This font would work perfectly for a fancy event. If you're having a cocktail 21st, this might just be the font to use. If you're having a beer pong tournament for your 21st, this will not fit the theme.

9.TA tayagini script

This font is called TA tayagini script, and this cursive font flows seamlessly from letter to letter. The capital letters in this font are fancy, there are swirls and twirls all over the place, and this is another font that belongs more in the fancy category than anywhere else. There's not much more to be said about this font, other than if you're looking for something that looks like it belongs in the headings of a fairytale, be sure to check out this font.

10.Le your script

This font is called Le your script, and we think we have to take back what we said about the previous font. This font belongs on the cover of a fairytale. It is beautifully designed and has large capital letters, similar to many fairytale scripts. Although keep in mind this font is best used for headings, if used in paragraphs it would be very difficult to read. It is a statement font, ready for a statement headline.

11.Railey

This font is called Railey, and this font is back down to the fun category. It looks like it has been written with a marker and the writer has taken time to have fun with it by adding curves to the longer hanging letters (such as R and y) This font reminds us of the type of writing style you'd have on a name plaque pinned to your child's door. This font does give off a younger, fun vibe but that doesn't mean it can't be used in other graphic design projects if utilised correctly.

12.Dr Sugiyama

This font is called Dr Sugiyama, and as the name suggests, it does look similar to a doctors handwriting, which we all know can be difficult to read sometimes (why do all doctors seem to write like this?) It's a thick stroke font with all the letters cursively connecting. Although this font does give off a very handwritten vibe, which is exactly what we're going for in this article. This looks like you've photocopied someone's handwriting and made it into a font, perfect for social media campaigns that want to feel more homely.

13.Great vibes

This font is called Great vibes, and if anything it gives off ocean vibes. The capital letters have large swirls attached to them making this a very round and smooth font. This type of font would fit perfectly on a beachside bar menu. It's a little bit fancy while still being relaxed and flowy. It rings true to its name and gives the feeling of great vibes when you read it.

14.Dancing script

This font is called Dancing script and we're starting to realise how good Canva are at naming their fonts because the first thing this font makes us think of is ballet. There's something in the way it is written as each letter delicately connect and dance together. This font is fun, while still being cursive and flowy yet easy to read. 16.Petit formal script

This font is called Petit formal script and as the name suggests, it's formal. If you were to be invited to a fancy masked ball, this might be the script you'd find on the invitation. The font is thin and looks as if it's been written by a calligraphy pen, bringing in that olden day classical, formal tone. This font probably isn't what you're going to go for if you're creating a menu for a burger joint, but inviting friends to celebrate your 50th might be a go-ahead

17.Sister Pamela

This font is called Sister pamela and this one is a lot of fun. This font throws out the traditional sizing of each letter and has fun with it. For example, in the word sister, the t is as large as the capital S. The l's in this font are also created long with a slight curve to them compared to the traditional straight-lined letters you normally find. This helps give that natural writing feel to the font as it isn't perfectly written and feels incredibly natural. This kind of font is much more fitting to be the typography on your burger menu.

18.Berlinerins

This font is called It Berlinerins, In saying that, this is still a beautiful, elegant font and definitely has its place in this list. We'd suggest keeping this font to a heading, as having large paragraphs may become difficult to read and could put people off from reading your entire design, but used as a heading it's elegant, and once again fits into the category of fancy invitations. Think engagement party!

19.TT Nooks Script

20.Italianno

This font is called Italianno and it is another of your typical cursive style fonts. Each letter perfectly links together giving off the perfect flow of letters. If you owned a fancy restaurant, this would be a great font to use as the headings for each subsection of meals.

21.Her Von Mueller

This font is called Her Von Mueller and this is extreme cursive. It has large capital letters standing out against the smaller lower case letters. and isn't short or curls. 22.H Kaeupet NP

This font is called H Kaeupet NP. This is another beautiful formal font, but the swirls on the capital letters may almost be overdone as the letters begin to look like a different shape altogether. In saying this though, this kind of font always has a place in design. There is something out there that this font would fit the marketing for perfectly. Just don't overdo this font as your audience might get seasick from reading past all those swirls and twirls.

23.Miama

This font is called Miama and we're taking it back to that simple cursive vibe we all know and love by now. This is a thin font that has a fun twisting tail on the letter m that flows seamlessly under the next written letter. This font looks like it's come straight from a calligraphy pen that's having fun extending a few of the letters to add a pinch of fancy to their letter.

24.JS Sirium

This font is called JS Sirium. This font is thicker than most and looks more like it has been painted with a paintbrush rather than written with a pen or calligraphy tool. The capital letters almost give off a drip look, which goes along with the paintbrush style.

25.West Byanetta

This font is called West Byanetta and this is another font that has absolutely nailed the handwritten look. This font is thin with larger, overly pronounced capital letters. This font looks like the perfect style to fit a pilates studio based in California. This font is fun yet casual and will bring many graphic designs to life.

26.Hello January

This font is called Hello January and it is beautiful. This is another font that has pronounced capital letters which then flows into a seamless, handwritten cursive font. This font looks like it's been taken straight out of someone's diary. All of the lowercase letters end with a little curved tail, which either joins them to the next or smoothly finishes off each word. This font is very rounded, with no sharp or boxy edges whatsoever. 28. Better Together

This font is called Better Together and this is your perfect paintbrush stroke. 29.Sacramento

This font is called Sacramento and is another thin line cursive font that looks like it has been written straight from a fine tip marker. When thinking about handwritten fonts, this would definitely be up there.

30.League Script

This font is called League Script and this may be the thinnest script so far. If you're wanting a design that looks like it's been written by a perfectly sharpened pencil, then this is the one. It has that typical cursive style but is dainty compared to many of the other fonts, which will make it stand out amongst a crowd of typography.

31.Regular Brush

This font is called Regular Brush and is another paint style font. This typeface is thicker, and if added right to a design could look very much like it's been painted on, similar to the previously mentioned font better together. This font is young and fun and has good vibes all around. If you're looking to add some joy to your design, then check our regular brush.

32.Mansalva

This font is called Mansalva and is the perfect combination of brush strokes and handwritten. This font isn't cursive and gives off a slightly more childish feel than some of the others. There are many designs that this font would fit perfectly in, as it's always nice to see a handwritten style font that isn't cursive.

33.Zhi Mang Xing

This font is called Zhi Mang Xing and is once again a thicker font. This font is a combination of a brushstroke style font mixed in with some flowing cursive

34.Adley Swash

This font is called Adley Swash and is another fun one. The lettering is thick and the capital letters have a lot of twirls added to the tails. This font looks like it belongs on the cover of a Disney musical.

35.Sarina

This font is called Sarina and looks like the perfect wave. Each letter flows seamlessly together in a thick writing style, almost looking like a hand-drawn ocean. The letters get a little lost in each other, but the font is so beautiful it's worth taking the time to read. Although we would recommend that this is another font that is kept to headlines rather than paragraphs, but alas, you are the designer and you do as you please

38.Drukaatie Burtie

This font is called Drukaatie Burtie thin and is taking a different approach to the last few font's we've been talking about. This font is thinner, with each letter separated from the other (no cursive in this one!) yet still portrays exactly what we're after in this list of handwritten fonts.

39.Lifelogo

This font is called Lifelogo, and we're ending with a bang. This font perfectly matches thicker and thinner strokes together to create a beautiful hand drawn style font. This font seems very lifestyle and would fit any designs with this genre in mind, in fact, it would work wonderfully in a logo!
